Author Interview – Tom Skinner @PictureBookTom

What was the hardest part about writing this ABC book? Well, it had to be 26 times everything and each page had 4 or 5 integrated layers so it was quite a challenge to keep it all fresh for young and old alike especially with the same repeated refrain on each page which can sometimes drive the parent or reader nuts!

How important do you think villains are in a story? Crucial, especially in my upcoming Batman-style series. Though the Bat is actually a pig (Barny Potta) and the villain (Lean Mean McQueen) is a wolf.

What are your goals as a writer? Creative and financial freedom and to write fun, positive, happy, colorful books that inspire and uplift my readers. Or at least give them a good laugh.

Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)? Only in my mind which can be a dangerous thing! Any travel is inspiring.

What books have most influenced your life? The Introvert Advantage and The Right to Write – both profound and pertinent in every way.

Can we expect any more books from you in the future? I have a new hardback picture book due late next year called BUS FUSS (New Frontier Publishing) which is a counting book featuring Australian animals.
